Hotel Alfred Sommier

The team deserves special thanks for being welcoming, discreet, and attentive, always greeting us with a smile and making us feel pampered. The location is wonderful, and staying at Alfred Sommier Hotel felt like living in a Parisian palace with all the comfort of a five-star hotel. Paris has so many wonders, and this hotel is one of them. I've found my home in Paris and can't wait to return. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for making my stay feel like a fairytale.

We were given what felt like the worst room in the hotel. The air conditioning was broken, and management kept assuring us someone would come fix it, but no one ever did. The owner showed us around his beautiful building, then seemed to expect a free breakfast to make up for the problem. Paris is hot in summer, and a five-star hotel should have working air conditioning. Staff told us that “it's not common to have air conditioning in Paris.” I suspect the well-connected owner pulled strings to get the five-star rating. The back-and-forth texts throughout our trip ruined the stay, and there was no compensation. Staff seemed somewhat helpful and polite, but apparently had their hands tied by management. For someone who spends plenty of time in real five-star hotels, here's advice to the owners: fix the utilities. In hospitality, the manager and owner are responsible for everything. Be well! Edit: Despite the hotel's response, the air conditioning was never fixed. The hotel seems to reply to complaints by claiming problems were resolved when they weren't. Buyer beware.

Henri was especially kind and helpful, from check-in through answering my questions. Angeline was just as friendly, always happy to chat over breakfast. The whole team made me feel at home and were warm and welcoming. I had a great stay recently and would definitely recommend the hotel to friends and stay again.

The building is lovely, and the decor is tasteful. Our room felt spacious, with large windows and a fireplace, and the beds and pillows were comfortable. Breakfast was okay. Service at reception varied depending on who was working, so there are a few small things they could improve. We were quite pleased with our stay, and the location is excellent.
