Hotel au Coeur de Republique

The area felt safe and lively, with lots of cafes and restaurants. There's a cute bakery on the corner, and you're right by Republic. The receptionists were friendly, room service was good, and you can store luggage in lockers in the modern basement. Yes, the rooms are small. It's Paris, and the rooms are cozy and very clean, with just enough space for two people on a weekend. If you expect Ritz treatment and 35-square-meter rooms, pay €500 a night in central Paris. But for a reasonably priced, cute room for a couple, with a really good location, this is the right place. Don't let the bad reviews put you off.

The room was small and the shower tiny, but everything worked for me. It was spotless and modern, in a quiet neighborhood, with an elevator that actually works. The people here are great.

The bathroom and room condition were awful. There was a moldy smell and visible mold on the bathroom floor, and both the toilet seat and faucet were broken. The floor got dangerously slippery, and the bathroom flooded during showers. There was nowhere to put our things, so they ended up on the toilet seat. The curtains felt like something from a one-star hotel, and holes in the room walls were upsetting. The service was just as bad. The manager came across as rude and incompetent. My daughter and I took a yogurt from what looked like an open kitchen, then were told it was closed and only available at breakfast, which had ended a few minutes earlier. When I asked where the hours or rules were posted, he said curtly that the dimmed lights meant it was closed. The front desk was often unattended. When staff were there, they had bad attitudes and seemed more interested in playing PlayStation or doing anything except their jobs. At most, this place deserves two stars. I hope they don't renew its operating license until major improvements are made.

I'm really upset about this booking. I mistakenly cancelled it and was charged €288, even though the room had cost €250 for one night. I only asked the hotel to acknowledge my mistake and either refund me or let me have the room I'd originally paid for. The person on the phone was rude and denied the request. They stopped me from getting a refund, and when I asked for a manager, they hung up straight away. I've called again, and they still keep hanging up and won't agree to any solution. The staff are very rude and inconsiderate. This is beyond disrespectful and pathetic. I'll take it further and contact the relevant people to try to get my money back or receive the room I paid for.
