Hotel Berne Opera

This was the worst hotel experience I’ve had, and I’ve never written a bad review about a hotel or anything else before. The noise was unbearable all day, so we paid around 700 euros for rooms we couldn’t use. We stayed here on a trip from Australia in January. Half the hotel was a construction site, and the outside was wrapped in scaffolding and being renovated. We were directly below a floor where workers spent much of the day grinding, drilling, and jackhammering. They were also sandblasting the outside wall of our room. While we were out, construction workers were allowed into our rooms with our belongings inside, to access the area below where they were working. We found an access door left open when we got home. There’s only one small lift, and whenever we tried to use it the workers were already in it; our family of five couldn’t fit. We raised the noise with staff, who just said sorry and moved on. The manager was never available, so after checkout we emailed asking for some money back. The manager agreed to refund one night, but only 100 euros was returned. She then said that was what she’d agreed to and hasn’t replied to our further emails. I attached screenshots of both emails so people can see what I see as outright lies. There’s also a video showing the noise. I want the owners to get in touch and fix this, because nobody should have to pay for what we dealt with. I’d seriously reconsider whether this is the right manager for the hotel.

The location was close to everything, yet the hotel itself felt quiet and relaxing. I had a wonderful stay in a cozy, comfortable room, with a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Service was excellent and breakfast delicious. Thank you for making my visit so enjoyable. Merci beaucoup for these wonderful days!

The breakfast was tasty, very good, and had several options. The hotel is close to Metro and bus stations, so there isn’t much walking needed to reach them, and it’s easy to get around Paris and the surrounding area. Rue Batignolles has different kinds of bistros and restaurants very near the hotel. The rooms are cozy, though the view isn’t anything special. This is a tiny hotel with tiny rooms; if you’re sharing with someone, there may not be enough room for all your luggage and clothes, so expect crowding and mess. For getting around, Google Maps will point you to the best routes, and with the different transport apps you won’t get lost.
