Hotel Camille Paris Gare de Lyon, Tapestry Collect

The room was small, which made sense for central Paris, and I barely spent time in it anyway. Mine looked out over some boulangeries, and the street stayed quiet at night. The walls are thin, though, so you might hear a neighbor showering or opening a closet. Light sleepers may want earplugs. Getting around was easy from Gare de Lyon, with several metro and RER lines nearby. CDG took about 30-40 minutes, and the station escalators meant I didn't have to lug my bags. There are lots of shops and restaurants close by, though the two places I tried were only so-so by Paris standards. I'd look beyond the 0.2-mile area for dinner. I felt safe walking alone as a woman, even in winter when it got dark early. The hotel has an elevator, but I didn't spot a ramp, so you may have to manage three steps to reach it. The lift itself is small, enough for one person and a suitcase. I was glad I didn't have to carry mine up four flights. Staff were all friendly, and I'd happily stay here again.

The hotel was clean and had a charming feel, and the staff made the stay especially easy. We arrived early and were tired, but they helped us get settled in our room promptly. They continued to offer useful help and advice while we were there. Thomas deserves a special thank you for his knowledge and support. The location near Gare de Lyon was convenient too.

The team, especially Modibo D, were lovely, and we even got a complimentary upgrade. There are tasty cafes, restaurants and shops close by, as well as the main train station. Our bathroom was small, the floors creaked a little, and hallway voices carried, though it wasn't too bad. We had a great stay.

The room felt more like an apartment than a hotel room, and the condition and sound insulation were disappointing. The floor creaked whenever we walked, and we could hear people next door sneezing or coughing. Footsteps in the hallway came through too, along with outdoor sounds like police and ambulances. Breakfast had very little choice and no proper hot dishes, just dry scrambled eggs. There weren't hot sausages or a traditional French breakfast, so for the price it didn't feel worth it. This should be up to Hilton standards. On the plus side, reception was friendly, and the hotel is within walking distance of the metro and bus station.
