Hotel Choisy

The receptionist was kind, but that was the only bright spot. We stayed just one night because we had an early train and didn’t want to sleep at the station or outside. The bathroom wasn’t very clean, especially the shower, and its door wouldn’t shut properly. The automatic lights stayed on for ages, then switched themselves back on, while the fan made an awful noise. The electronic key card didn’t work either, and we couldn’t lock the room door, so we pushed a desk and chair against it to feel safe. Glad we only had to stay that one night.

The room felt dirty and uncomfortable. My toilet was broken, the shower dripped, and there was no hot water. A cat wandered around the breakfast area, and although the food was edible, it wasn’t worth the money. The staff seemed uninterested, and the hotel had none of the charm you’d hope for. If you’re completely stuck and need somewhere for one night, Hôtel de Choisy might do. Otherwise, I wouldn’t recommend it. For a Paris trip, paying more for somewhere else would be a better choice.

A great spot, right by a park, with restaurants all around and everything close by. That helped make the stay bearable, but after several nights of barely sleeping, I was relieved to leave. The bed had sunk so badly I was almost on the floor. The room was tiny, with barely enough space to get past the bed, and the bathroom was even smaller. In the shower, I kept bumping into either the toilet cistern or the tap. Water got all over the bathroom each time because the curtain didn’t reach the floor.

The continental breakfast was a nice surprise, and the staff were really pleasant. It’s a small hotel in a decent part of the city, though we found the room a bit cramped, especially the bathroom. With the windows open, street noise made it hard to settle on a comfortable temperature for sleeping.
