Five days before check-in for my two-night Booking.com reservation, I got a strange message through my account. The hotel asked me to send photos of myself with my ID and credit cards and to pay the full stay through a link that was redacted. They said they had no 24-hour reception, nobody would be there to check me in, and the request was to prevent fraud. I called the hotel to clarify and got a very rude response. I explained I wasn’t comfortable sending personal and card information ahead of the stay, and that Booking.com already held my card as a guarantee. When I asked about reception hours, the representative said it was open 24 hours, but they couldn’t take cash or card payments. I offered to pay in person at check-in using a payment link, but wouldn’t send personal photos with my ID and cards. He said I’d be marked a “no show” and charged the full amount unless I paid in advance and sent the photos. I then contacted Booking.com customer service to ask about cancelling for free because of what had happened. The hotel never answered that request. I ended up cancelling and paying a high cancellation fee after being asked for sensitive information that could easily be used for fraud. Save yourself the trouble and don’t book here.

I felt very unsafe after booking a room here. The doors had no locks, and the service was shitty, even though it’s a nice neighborhood. There was a night receptionist, an older black man, who wasn’t very friendly. After I checked in, I went out later and saw him near my door, seeming to listen. I also had my two cousins stay over, and he made drama about it. I don’t recommend this hotel. Do not stay here!!!!!

We had a great time, even though some of the bad reviews seem to come from booking problems. The rooms were clean and cozy, and there’s central air. It’s easy to get around from here, with several subway stops and lots of cafés just a quick walk away.

Be careful booking this apartment. I made the reservation through Booking.com with free cancellation, then cancelled before the deadline. They charged me even earlier, and despite my repeated messages asking for a refund, I got no response. Two weeks have passed and still nothing has happened.

My girlfriend and I reserved the night of March 26th 2022 through Booking. We were allowed to cancel for free up to the 24th, and because of a personal issue we cancelled on the 21st, five days before arrival. They emailed to confirm the cancellation was effective and free of charge. A couple of days later, though, the charge showed up in our bank account. We tried reaching them through Booking chat, Whatsapp, and email, but got no reply at all. More than two months later, Booking was still trying to get in touch with them to recover our money. It’s incredibly frustrating to spend so many hours trying to get back what belongs to us. DO NOT BOOK HERE!!!!
