Hôtel Du Beaumont

The staff were pleasant and friendly, and the location is the best part, right in the heart of Montmartre near Moulin Rouge. But the beds were rock hard and totally uncomfortable, and the rooms are tiny. Breakfast was in a strange setup, just two or three tables in a small room or corridor, with basic food and bad coffee. In my country, this wouldn't merit four stars, maybe two or three at most.

Breakfast felt personal: we filled in a card the night before with what we wanted, then a staff member cooked it for us. I really enjoyed the freshly made food and the hot drink machine. We opened the windows for a nice breeze, which cooled the room faster than waiting for the AC to fully kick in. The staff were very friendly. The elevator and rooms are a little small, but that's Paris, and I've seen even smaller elevators on earlier trips around Europe. You make it work as part of the adventure. We ended up booking here after the franchise hotel we'd originally reserved couldn't honor our booking closer to the dates. This one is in the same building, around the corner from Moulin Rouge, where we were going to see the show. It's conveniently placed for transit lines and attractions, and I'd book it again next time I'm in Paris.

The best thing here is how easy it is to walk to places like Starbucks and the mall. The young woman who checked us in was really nice and friendly. Our first room was warm and had no air conditioning, so we had to move to a smaller room that did have it. The rooms are badly outdated, and the breakfast was burnt and bland, so we couldn't eat it.

The breakfast room is tiny, and the food left something to be desired. I hadn't even remembered breakfast was included, so it wasn't a big deal. The elevator is also very small, maybe two or three people without bags. The lobby staff were friendly and helpful, and I'd definitely come back. It's an older building in a busy area, just around the corner from Moulin Rouge, but the renovation seems well done and the soundproofing is impressive. We were over the busy street and beside the lift, yet barely heard anything, even with roadworks during our stay. The nearest metro station is a stone's throw away, making the sights easy to reach.
