Hôtel du Lion

We had a great three-night stay. The rooms were clean and comfortable for two, and some have small balconies with views of Tour Eiffel. The desk staff were friendly and professional. With easy access to the metro, big parks and Jardins nearby for a walk, and great restaurants in the heart of Montparnasse, this is an excellent base for exploring Paris.

Room 83 was so noisy from what might have been a water pump, A/C system or something similar that couldn’t be switched off, and I had a hard time sleeping. The shower didn’t drain on the first day, then the bathroom flooded; afterward, the cleaning lady removed the cover entirely. On checkout day they made my bed before I left, which made me wonder whether they even change the sheets for new customers. The location was nice and the receptionist friendly. The breakfast lady wasn’t especially nice, but she wasn’t rude either. I don’t recommend this place.

For Paris, the rooms are spacious and clean, and the hotel is very well located beside a metro station. The staff were accommodating, too. It’s a two-star hotel, so keep expectations in check, but if you want good value in Paris, it’s a very good option. I highly recommend it.

We were three, two adults and a child, and all enjoyed our stay. Our room was tidy, cleaned daily, and came with fresh towels. It’s an authentic, nice and tidy place, though you shouldn’t expect a luxury hotel. We were lucky to have a view of the Eiffel Tower, which looked amazing lit up at night. The location is fantastic, with amenities close by and train stations and metros right next door. Breakfast was very good, with breads, cheeses, yoghurt, spreads and drinks. The coffee and juices were really good, and you could ask for more. The hosts were kind and generous, and we were grateful for their hospitality. We’d highly recommend staying here in Paris. Just know there’s no elevator on the first floor, so you’ll need to carry your luggage up those stairs, though there is an elevator at reception.
