Hôtel du Roussillon

The French doors took some figuring out as an American: closing one doesn't lock it. You turn the bolt to secure it from inside, or use the key from outside. The hotel is in the 13th Arrondissement, so reaching the main tourist spots means taking a bus or metro. Still, it was great value, and I was pleasantly surprised. I spent four months traveling around Europe, and this was one of my favorite stays. Everything worked and had what I needed, almost like someone lived there and had worked out all the bugs. I stayed before flying out of Orly, and the M7 to M14 metro connection worked really well for getting to the airport.

Having a small kitchenette was handy, and the Carrefour market is only a two-minute walk away, which saved us money on groceries. The bed was comfy, the heater worked, and there were extra blankets in the wardrobe for anyone who hadn't checked. The staff were very nice and accommodating, even letting us park the pram downstairs. This pretty hotel has what you need and is very affordable for Paris. It’s near place D'italie and public transport for getting to the tourist sights. Place d'Italie was quiet, and people were polite. I definitely recommend it, and don't really understand the bad reviews. 😎😎😎

The steps up to the higher floors are steep, so they might be difficult for some people, though we had no trouble. We met the owner, who was really friendly, and our clean room was in a quaint hotel in a quiet area near Place D'Italie. We slept well and had no problems at all. It made our romantic trip to the beautiful city of Paris especially lovely. I couldn't have asked for a better stay, and I recommend it completely.

The location is a real plus, close to the metro, restaurants, and supermarkets, and the staff are friendly. But the room got very hot in summer, with no fan or air conditioning provided. We had to keep the windows open at night and buy a fan to cope. We stayed a few days ago, at the end of June 2025. The hotel is old, as expected, and has no lift, but the staircase was also narrow and dark. The room was a good size, though the bathroom was small and the shower door was broken. I wouldn't recommend staying here in summer.
