Hotel du Vieux Marais

I felt safe and comfortable the whole time. The staff were always friendly, polite, and helpful, and I loved my fourth-floor room with its tiny balcony. It’s a very cozy, welcoming hotel, perfectly placed for walking around central Paris. I had a hugely enjoyable stay and am sure I’ll return. I highly recommend it.

The staff were so kind and helpful, and the hotel is in an excellent central Marais location. The sheets were clean and white, and the bathroom was very large, though there wasn’t enough counter space for personal toiletries. The cleaning staff were the best we had during our two-week European trip. For over €300 a night, our double comfort room felt dingy, with old furniture and carpet and a disappointing view into the interior. The plugs were awkward to find and use, and hallway noise was very loud in the evening and early morning, with slamming doors and raised voices. I was too tired to ask for a different room, so maybe others are more up to date, but I wouldn’t stay again.

No complaints. The beds were good, the walls blocked sound, and the recently remodeled bathroom had good water pressure. The lift was close by, and it’s a seven-minute walk to or from the Metro, which was handy with suitcases. Front desk concierges were helpful and bilingual. A good continental breakfast can be delivered to your room if you ask.

This was our first hotel in Paris, and coming from the US the room felt quite small. It was clean, though, and the service was great. Zayed, the lobby attendant, was fantastic, so kind and helpful. We loved our stay.
