Dupleix Hotel

The service was incredibly rude and unprofessional. They asked me to show my passport and pay the city tax the day after I checked in, but they weren’t there for the rest of my stay. They gave me no other way to pay, then accused me of deliberately avoiding the tax and blamed me for not asking how to pay it. A customer shouldn’t have to figure that out for the service provider. Then the tax went from 10.4€ to 20€? They accused me and threatened to report me. Worst hotel ever. Don’t book unless you’re willing to deal with this kind of service.

We arrived around 5:30 AM after taking a bus in very cold weather, following unexpected travel delays. We’d already paid for the room and had asked in advance whether the check-in date could be adjusted because our train was delayed, but the hotel simply said no. At the hotel, the entrance was locked behind a code. We rang several times and got no answer. Someone finally spoke over the intercom after about an hour, but was rude and unhelpful. We weren’t let into the building and no other option was offered. It seemed there was no receptionist in the early hours, and the hotel didn’t really operate until around 9:00 AM. There’s no elevator either, which could be inconvenient. We ended up checking into the hotel right next door instead. They were welcoming and let us in early without any trouble. Given how poor the hospitality and service were, I’d be cautious booking here if you may arrive outside regular check-in hours.

The owner was so kind and helpful, and my room was clean, safe, and comfortable. You can see the Eiffel Tower from the hotel, with an even better view from a higher floor. Both the tower and the Seine River are a short walk away, which made getting around for sightseeing easy. I didn’t manage to take photos, but the place really was as described. I had a wonderful stay and would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Paris.

The staff were nice, but the room was disgusting. The bathroom was tiny, and whenever you showered, water spread across the whole floor and left everything wet. The bathroom walls had what looked like coffee drops on them, and the floor wasn’t clean either. You could hear everything, including a baby crying two rooms away. There’s no elevator, and the stairs are very small.
