Eden Hotel

The rooms felt dated, with old furniture and finishes that need attention. Updating them would bring them closer to the standard of the well-kept common areas. There’s a lot going for the hotel already: the staff were friendly, the location convenient, and the shared spaces maintained nicely. A room renovation could make the guest experience much better.

For this price, the state of the room is a definite no. The bakery next door was the only good part. Service was okay, too. If you ask for something, they usually provide it.

I’ve stayed in hotels all over the city, and this one wasn’t worth what it cost. The rooms are tiny, with barely enough space to walk around the bed. The difference between a regular and superior room is just 1 m2, so I wouldn’t pay extra for the upgrade. A balcony room isn’t guaranteed, either. On arrival, the TV, air conditioning, and toilet all needed repairs. Staff fixed everything except the TV. They work hard and know their stuff, but seem limited by the age of the hotel. The housekeepers were quick and good, and it was nice to come back to a cleaned room while we were out. There are no alcoholic drinks in the mini fridge, though you can use it for drinks you buy yourself. The spa has what you need, but the steam room feels slimy and there’s visible mold on the tile grout. There’s no hose in the sauna, so I don’t know how it’s cleaned regularly. The door has a button instead of a deadbolt, meaning anyone with a key can open it. Above the bed was a strange light fixture that didn’t work and pointed at the bed. It gave me a weird feeling, so I turned it around. The room also had a lot of issues, but the people working there did their best.

I’ve been there a couple of times for work and have had positive stays. It’s clean and comfortable, and the staff are nice. It’s not right in the center, but the location is still good and transport is easy to find. Like much of central Paris, bakeries, coffee, restaurants, and bars are just a stroll away. The AC was especially welcome yesterday, since it was very hot.
