Hôtel Elixir

We were only in Paris for three days, but the Hotel Alixir staff made the stay fantastic. They let us check in hours before the official time and use the left luggage area, both without any fuss. The rooms are well kept, with an iron and board and a coffee machine, and they topped up the coffee for free when we asked. It’s very central, with most sights within walking distance and the train station a five-minute walk away. There are also fantastic restaurants around the hotel, and Notre Dame is just a stone’s throw away. Perfect in every way.

The room was clean and comfortable, with a great shower. Our Double Superior had only a standing rack for clothes and no closet, which felt less practical for unpacking over four nights than for a one-night visit. I also missed having a toilet roll holder, since the paper was left on the sink or a shelf. The hotel is central, one block from Châtelet Metro. The side street seemed quiet at first, but there are good cafes and restaurants at both ends.

The location was great, and the service was amazing. The rooms were good, though nothing extraordinary. For a hotel right in the heart of Paris, I thought it was great value and would recommend staying here.

The location is the one good thing about this hotel. The staff were awful, and the rooms are small. They switched off the A/C while guests were still staying there, with temperatures above 65 degrees, and didn’t tell anyone. We had to sleep with the window open, but the outside noise and the location made it unbearable. Breakfast was a joke: the bacon was uncooked, you had to boil your own eggs, and the bread was hard as a rock. Anyone who calls this a great hotel is lying.
