Hotel Excelsior Republique

Being near the metro and several cafés was the one good thing about this hotel. The room itself was quite dirty, with stained sheets, damp towels that had hair on them, visible bathroom mold, and even a used earplug above the bed. The doors were a problem too: the room door made noise and wouldn’t shut properly, while the balcony door wouldn’t close or lock and could be pushed open. Reception staff spoke only a few words of English. I’ve provided photos and videos of everything.

The room was badly outdated, dusty and covered in black mold, which felt dangerous to my health. Even the lights didn’t work, and nobody responded to my complaints. I couldn’t stay because of the room conditions, but they wouldn’t compensate me for the unused nights. Disgusting and unsafe. I’d avoid this hotel.

I guess it was bearable, but there were a lot of annoyances. The walls were so thin I could hear people opening their cupboards. My corner room’s Wi-Fi kept cutting out, and the key was bad too. The pillows smelled a bit, and there wasn’t a main light, only little lamps.

The manager wouldn’t give us a full refund when we wanted to leave immediately. We were told we had to provide physical proof of the bedbugs first. All of us are allergic, and the bugs were all over the infested rooms. We’d eaten breakfast sitting on the floor and beds there, then went back to our rooms without realizing we were carrying them along. It was a complete nightmare at Hotel Excelsior. I can’t believe they handled it that way. Don’t stay here.
