Hôtel Garance

The staff were lovely and gave very good service, and the hotel sits right on the street near conveniences and lots of restaurants. But I was disappointed after reading reviews praising the rooms. Mine was very small, not the standard hotel room size some people might expect. The standing shower leaked water across the rest of the bathroom, and there were hardly any English-language TV channels or anything much to watch. If you just want a cheap place to sleep and can live with those issues, it may work. If you're coming to travel and relax, though, I'd avoid it because you may end up frustrated.

I stayed here for a little over a week with friends and colleagues, and we were all happy with it. The rooms were clean and quiet, and everyone was polite and helpful. We could communicate in English. The neighborhood is peaceful, with lots of excellent cafes and restaurants.

The second-floor room had a small balcony, which was a really nice spot to hang out, and there were plenty of electrical outlets. The room was spacious and clean, and the hotel feels new and modern. Breakfast was varied and the food was good quality. It's a nice, well-located hotel, and I'd say it was a good 3-star stay.

The room and access problems made this stay really unacceptable. My mother used the accessible room and wheelchair, but the entrance had no ramp. The receptionist kindly helped us get inside and put together a temporary ramp from wooden panels the next day, though that was no proper substitute. The elevator was too small for her chair, including for getting to breakfast on the first floor. We stayed four nights, my spouse, my mother, and me. Her room was dirty aside from the sheets and towels: the closet, bathroom, and floor were unclean. The bedside lamp and reading lights didn't work, and the shower was either extremely hot or cold, with no way to set it properly. We asked staff several times to fix the lights and shower, but nothing was done. The room still hadn't been cleaned properly when we left, and they didn't replenish the bathroom supplies or toilet paper or provide clean towels. The manager was supposed to be there when we checked out, but wasn't. The receptionist could only tell us to email the manager. We sent several messages and got no reply, which felt disrespectful and outrageous. My mother had cold showers throughout the stay, and the hotel charges those prices while being listed as accessible despite the lack of cleanliness and facilities.
