The location was handy for the metro, groceries and cafes, and the lobby and rooms have a cute look. Staff were accommodating and kept our bags after checkout so we could spend more time in the city. Even so, we wouldn't stay here again. The beds were very uncomfortable, and our backs hurt after the first night, then got worse each night. Cleaning started early and was very loud, with supplies left scattered across the hallway. The walls are so thin we could hear water running in the neighboring rooms when people used the bathroom. There were several practical annoyances too. The elevator is tiny, so we couldn't take all our luggage up at once, and the stairs from it to the rooms are narrow and winding. The hallways are tight, and the ceilings are low enough that anyone over 6ft will nearly touch them. The rooms are small, so we had to rearrange things to lay out our suitcases. There are no English TV channels, and you'll need to bring your own washcloths. The shower is over a tub that's quite high to climb into, while the glass covers less than half of it and water gets onto the floor. The small toilet flush button stuck, so we had to use the big one. We asked for a late checkout the night before leaving, and the desk gentleman approved noon. At 11:40am, another employee called angrily to say checkout was 11:30. He hadn't been told about the approval and insisted we had to check out before 12, then hung up. At the desk he said housekeeping was pushing to clean the room. It was frustrating to get conflicting answers. The price was more affordable than nearby options, but the bad bed, thin walls and loud cleaning made it a no for us.

The Marais has plenty close by, including a lovely square around the corner with restaurants and terraces, and the hotel still feels calm and elegant when you come back in the evening. It's beautifully decorated, the service was impeccable, and breakfast was a delightful start to the day. A charming place to stay right in the heart of Paris.

The staff were the highlight, so friendly, helpful and easy to approach, and we had a wonderful full week here. It's tucked between two side streets with a metro stop nearby, and we could walk easily to most of the iconic sights. Nights were a bit noisy from the street, though that's part of being in central Paris. Breakfast wasn't extravagant, but there was plenty and it filled us up. Our room got quite warm. There was a fan but no air conditioning, so we kept the windows open.

I've been coming to Paris for over 20 years and this is still my first choice. I like the neighborhood setting, the atmosphere and the hotel's history, along with its smaller boutique feel. I've watched the decor evolve and really like the more modern style now. The staff are friendly and the rooms are nice. There are lots of great places to eat just outside, and as a woman traveling alone I've always felt safe here. I'd recommend it for a charming neighborhood stay, and hope to come back.

We came to Paris for a vacation, not to sleep in dusty rooms, deal with mold and a crusty mattress pad, or squeeze three adults into two small beds. There are plenty of other hotels that are clean and have responsive management, so don't book this one. Our first room had a thick layer of dust and mold on the lamp, window, sheets, bathroom, towel rack and staircase. It looked as if housekeeping hadn't cleaned the room or linen. We moved rooms the next day, but were put in one with two beds despite being told there would be three. The front desk promised the right number of beds the next day, then promised again the day after, but neither time did it happen. We slept badly, cramped together. I also saw a mouse run by my feet while talking with the front desk, and was told they knew there was a mouse problem. The stay was one disappointment after another. I emailed management four times afterward and got just one reply, which didn't resolve anything. The owner, Julie, didn't respond when I tried to get the problem sorted out, and didn't seem to care about making it right. The experience ruined our trip.
