Hotel London

I stayed four nights, then came back for another two, and had no complaints about the room. The front desk always seemed to be staffed, even at all hours. My first two photos are views from the fourth-floor room window; the next two are from the hotel's cafe windows. It’s great value in the heart of Paris. Opera Metro Station and Palais Garnier are one block away, Galeries Lafayette is two blocks away, and the Louvre is a 15-minute walk south. There are shops and restaurants all around.

It was easy to get around from here, with the Metro only a five-minute walk away. The location is fantastic, and the staff were friendly, helpful, and welcoming. The elevator is tiny and very old-school, though. Friday and Saturday nights were quite noisy. Our room was small for two, but cute and clean, and the bathroom was small but workable. The bathtub was a little tricky to shower in at first, but after a long day of walking it was nice to have a bath. They brought us a water bottle every day, which helped. There was soap, body wash and shampoo, and a hair dryer. The bedding was good and the bed comfortable, though it may feel a bit short if you’re tall.

For our first trip to Paris, the location was brilliant, about a five-minute walk from Opera. Hotel London felt safe, the room and bathroom were really nice, and the staff were lovely. I can’t recommend it more for someone visiting Paris.

The location is easily the best thing about this hotel, with lots of restaurants and shops nearby and a major Metro stop a few blocks away. The room and cleaning were adequate, and the decor looks like it’s been updated recently. Still, on the second day the door was left open after cleaning, with the deadbolt set so the door couldn’t latch. That was very negligent. There was also frequent loud banging from inside the hotel, as if construction was going on. The tiny elevator was out of order about 25% of the time. For showers, a second head mount higher on the wall would be useful for standing.
