The only thing this place had going for it was the location, which was handy for arriving and leaving on the Eurostar. We got there at 10:30 p.m. and left at 8:00 a.m., so I booked it as the last room available in the area. Four nights cost an eye-watering €900, or $1200 AUD, for what felt like a 2-star place. I wasn't expecting much, but it was still awful and put a damper on our time in Paris. I didn't check the reviews first, which I should have. I booked through Booking.com and have already written to them. I don't understand how they can be associated with this place. It's not worth even one star, let alone being called a hotel. Avoid it at all costs. Almost everything that should have worked didn't. There were no bed covers, and we had to ask for towels every day. When they came, they were wet because the housekeeping dryer was broken, like so much else. The tiny toilet gurgled all night and smelled awful. The shower was so cramped even a model would struggle to fit, and you'd want flip-flops to avoid a possible foot infection. The soap dispenser had no battery, so you had to remove its top and reach inside. The bunk bed was rusty and missing screws and nuts. Floors were sticky, the TV was broken, and some light fixtures had no bulbs. Thin windows let in all the street noise. The elevator, called 'Petit Jean', was the smallest in the world: one person and maybe a carry-on. Once inside, there was no way to turn around, so you had to exit the way you came in. It was scary. One staff member slept in the lounge overnight. The staff were helpful, but full of excuses. I blame the owners, and think the place should be shut down. There were no bed bugs, which was a relief given other past reviews. But the area felt terrible because of the large number of homeless people out on the streets below.

When we arrived with my family, the hotel seemed stylish and comfortable, and I thought it would be a nice place to stay for a few days. The elevator was small, but it did fit our luggage so we could get up to the first floor. In room 104, the shower didn't work: plastic bands were holding parts of it to the wall, and the heating wasn't working either. We contacted the staff, who offered us room 204 on the second floor for free. I was impressed and happy they gave us another room without any pushback. Moving our luggage was a bit of a pain, but we were cold and tired. The shower worked in 204, the heating worked, and the beds were soft and comfortable. My family and I took a nap. A few of us woke up and found up to four bed bugs. Two had bitten my son on one bed, another was between or inside the cushions of a green-wooden chair, and one more was under a bunk bed mattress. We contacted the staff again. They didn't push back and gave us room 304, above the other one. We moved everything again and are resting there now. I'll write another review about this soon. Always check hotel ratings before booking, since a place could be too infested or dangerous to stay in. Finally, my family paid 200 in French currency just to stay here. What a mess.

Don't stay here. The Montana is just terrible, even if you're fine with a cheap place that's rough around the edges. We didn't get the room we'd reserved, and when I asked for shower gel, the receptionist hid in a cupboard. See video. We couldn't lock the door, and the staff were actually rude, not just Paris rude. Stay here at your peril.

I had to find somewhere at the last minute after an unexpected overnight stop in Paris. This was the only place near the train station with a room available, so I paid €90. After finding bed bugs, I left at 4 a.m. and went to stay at the station. The worst hotel experience I've ever had.

The hotel was dirty, with mildew in the shower, no shower curtains, and rusty bathroom fittings. Our room wasn't cleaned every day, the fresh towels arrived wet, and the sheets weren't changed once during our seven-day stay. The staff were the worst part. The lift was broken for four of our seven days and wasn't fixed. When I asked the rude receptionist, Mr. Amuzollcho (or whatever it is), to help my 62-year-old mother carry her bag downstairs, he said, “je m'en fou,” roughly meaning he didn't care. He said helping guests wasn't his job. The broken lift wasn't our fault, and we'd prepaid for the whole stay. The booking listing said all rooms had elevator access, which was a lie: it only went up to the fourth floor, and nobody helped us with the other two floors. The receptionist also sleeps all night in the entrance hall. The hotel stinks more than the metro tunnels. There are Ibis and Mercure right across the street, and I'd strongly advise going anywhere else. A hostel would be better. This place is overpriced, stinky, and moldy, and it ruined our vacation. Stay as far away as you can.
