Hôtel Montmartre Clignancourt

The staff were super friendly, and the price was really good for a holiday weekend. The location was pretty good too, just a short walk from Montmartre's main attractions. But the bathroom smelled so strongly of mold that we had to leave its door shut and the window open the whole time. The bedroom had two windows, so we could air it out pretty well. The room was basically just four beds, nothing more. I would've rather paid a little extra for a nicer place.

The staff were always friendly and smiling, and the location was good, but the street was dirty and noisy at night. There was a lot of outside noise, and the area felt unsafe. The room was basic and old. The toilet was clean, but the shower was broken. The bed felt a little dirty too, and for half the nights I stayed, the pillow cover was made of plastic or nylon. Very weird.

The hotel was right in the middle of the places we wanted to see. Moulin Rouge was about an 8 minute walk, and it was easy to get around by bus or train. The Eiffel Tower and other monuments were no more than 30 minutes away. Our two night, three day stay was pretty cheap for Paris, and we mostly just used the room to sleep between exploring, eating, and seeing things. My two main issues were the stairs and the heating. There was no elevator, and carrying everything up to the sixth floor was a killer. When the radiator stopped working, I was handed a huge, heavy replacement to carry up more than six flights. You'd think the male workers could handle that task. I hope they don't treat future female guests that way, because that part was truly appalling.

The rooms were clean and just the right size, though basic. We were put in a different room from the one we'd asked for, but the staff fixed that as soon as possible. We could have switched the previous night, but we'd paid for a private bathroom. The service was amazing. I can't comment on the breakfast.
