Hotel Nord Est

The location worked well, close to the train station and subway. It’s a cute boutique hotel, with comfortable beds and friendly, helpful staff. I’ll definitely stay here again.

For the amount charged, this was a really disappointing stay and the worst hotel I’ve used in Paris. Cleaning was poor, and service was minimal: only one of the two beds was made, and the sink and bin areas weren’t cleaned. There were no hand towels, so I had to dry my hands with shower towels. I also found stains on the bedding and hair on the bathroom walls. There was no safety notice or information on display. I would never stay here again.

The best thing about this hotel was the desk staff. They were so friendly, kind, and helpful, and that really lifted our stay. The room was smaller than expected and didn’t meet our hygiene expectations. Staff said the hotel is busy renovating, which is why it isn’t as expected, and that the work should be finished within two years. There was no noise or other disturbance from the renovation. Gare du Nord is less than a ten-minute walk away, making this a good location if you’re travelling by train.

I’d recommend the hotel as it is now, especially for the price. I stayed four nights with friends and found it just as we’d hoped: a great location, friendly staff who made an effort to speak English, and modern, clean, well-equipped rooms. I can’t say what it was like before the renovation, but most of the complaints in the reviews didn’t match our experience. There were some small annoyances. The shower water drained slowly, so we had to be careful it didn’t overflow. There was no bathroom power socket, the room had limited space and storage for three people, and the TV only had French channels and wasn’t a smart TV. Those things could be better, but the overall package works well because the price isn’t very high. For young people spending a week in Paris, I’m not sure there’s a better option.
