Hotel Opera d'Antin

For the price, this was far too much hassle. The room and hotel information was misleading, the place lacked basic hygiene, and there was no soundproofing. After hours of researching hotels, the experience was humiliating. I arrived before check-in and was told the room wasn't ready, which was understandable. When I returned at 4 p.m., the receptionist kindly gave me my backpack, which I'd left at reception. But the shower tub was dirty, with a previous guest's soap still there, even though the hotel only provides liquid soap. I had brought la Croix bleach wipes and angrily scrubbed the whole bathroom myself. I didn't have time to inspect the rest before heading out. Back at 10:30 p.m., I found a thick lock of black, straight hair under the pillowcase and hair all over the sheets. I'm bald. The receptionist came upstairs with fresh bedding and towels, saying "just in case." We changed the bedding together. He showed me the cleaning sheet marked by the femme de ménage, but clearly the room hadn't been cleaned. The day-shift receptionist apologized the next morning, but I'd still had to sleep there. The pillow felt like a plastic balloon packed with air and synthetic filling, and I thought it might burst, along with my neck. I folded one of the large new towels and put a clean pillowcase over it so I could rest without neck pain. Above me, guests spent ten bouncy minutes on a creaky bed. Good for them, but not for me.
