Hotel Panache

Our junior suite was roomy by Paris standards and good value, with a bathtub, though it was smaller than a usual tub. The location was good, and from the fourth floor we couldn’t hear street noise. Staff were friendly, especially the woman at checkout. Check-in was quick, so I didn’t interact much then. They provide Dyptique hygiene products, but apart from a small soap, not travel-sized ones.

My room was spacious, with windows facing the street, and the modern Art Deco decor was beautifully put together. You can see the work of talented designers in it. The area had a real neighbourhood feel, with plenty of local bars, cafes and restaurants, while still being close to the attractions. Two metro lines were nearby, though I could also walk to all the Paris districts.

The air conditioner made an extremely loud noise at night even when it wasn’t running. I assume that’s why there were earplugs in the room. I also missed having slippers and bathrobes, which I’d normally expect from a 4-star hotel. The body cream wasn’t replenished during our three-night stay, and we eventually ran out. I did appreciate the stylish boutique atmosphere and the Diptyque cosmetics. A birthday card and mini Diptyque cream set were a thoughtful surprise. The coffee spill became a problem at checkout, when I was told I’d be charged €60. I don’t dispute that there are photos of the spill, but I asked for evidence supporting the charge: either laundry documentation that professional cleaning had failed, or proof that replacement sheets were necessary and cost €60. The hotel director said they couldn’t provide laundry documentation and claimed new sheets had to be bought, but gave no proof. I was only given a verbal explanation. I believe any extra charge should be proportionate and supported by verifiable documentation, rather than internal assertions. Photos show a spill, but not failed laundering, the need to replace the sheets, or the actual cost. Accidental stains are a foreseeable part of hospitality, and may be normal wear unless there’s clear proof otherwise. Without itemized or third-party evidence, the burden falls unfairly on the guest. My review is about that lack of transparency, not a personal dispute. I also mentioned the good parts of the stay and the excellent service from some staff because fairness matters to me. I regret that this issue overshadowed an otherwise pleasant stay, but my account is accurate. I had wonderful communication and support from manager Daria, who was exceptionally kind and welcoming. Manager Sam made a very different impression at checkout: he was rude, had a negative attitude, and wouldn’t help move my luggage to the luggage room. That really spoiled my impression of the stay.

The location was great, with different metro stations nearby and many sights within walking distance. Staff were very friendly. Rooms are very small but really neat and clean, and the beds are good.
