Perpetual Élysée Montaigne

The rooms are extremely small. Getting a suitcase in from the corridor was difficult, and there was barely room to move in the tiny shower. Still, I came away with a positive impression. The hotel is clean, cozy, quiet, peaceful, and felt safe. Staff were polite, attentive, and helpful, which made us feel welcome. Its fantastic location is just steps from the Champs-Élysées.

The location is hard to beat, just a three-minute walk from the Champs-Élysées. My room was the smallest I've ever stayed in, but it was clean, and the bed was comfortable. The staff were friendly and all spoke English. There was no parking at the hotel, though there is a paid garage on a nearby street. The sink was awkward, and the air conditioner blew right at my face while I slept. The hotel offers an airport shuttle, but ours didn't wait for us because passport control had a long line, and we lost €75.

I felt catfished by the online photos. The rooms looked nicely updated there, but in person everything was very worn. The bathroom had no door separating it from the rest of the room. Traveling with someone else, I'd find that unacceptable, and anyone opening the room door could see me on the toilet. It looked like the sliding door on its rail had broken and was never replaced. The sink's faucet was odd and hard to use, with knobs, and the hairdryer was the worst quality I've ever used. There were mosquitoes in the room. If you want a nice stay in Paris, look elsewhere.

The only breakfast disappointment was that they had run out of eggs. After three weeks traveling around France, I was tired of bread and wanted some protein. Still, we can't wait to stay here again. This was our favorite place of the trip, and with two small children in a triple room, it was wonderful to arrive after a long travel day and find both kids' beds already made. The thoughtful details made it feel excellent: great bathroom products, a complimentary welcome drink, lovely room decor, and a beautiful lobby. All the staff were kind and helpful.
