Hôtel Petit Lafayette

The balcony was a lovely extra, with a table and chairs and great views over the surrounding area. Our balcony room was spacious, clean, and had plenty of storage. The bathroom was well lit, clean, and easy to use. The hotel itself is neat and nicely decorated, with a luxurious boutique feel. There were lots of thoughtful extras: water, biscuits, a hotel-branded tote bag that was useful for exploring, and L’Occitane hand creams that were a treat in the chilly weather. Breakfast had a decent hot and cold selection, including allergen-friendly items. The staff were polite and helpful, and since we were celebrating, they kindly left Prosecco in our room. The location worked well for getting around Paris, on foot or by Metro. A very pleasant short stay, and I'd definitely book again.

The building was nice, and the rooms were spotless and in good condition. Staff were really helpful, and the location was handy for the metro and cafes. But I wouldn't pick this if you're a light sleeper. There's a noisy bar right next door, with people drinking outside into the early hours, and the building shakes when the metro goes by. Luckily I'd brought earplugs.

I booked a junior suite, where the WC and bath are separate, which can be a plus. The location is amazing: just minutes on foot from cute cafes, the Lafayette mall, the opera house, metro stations, and bakeries making fresh bread daily, including The Union. We took Uber into central Paris for $10-12. The guest service team were excellent and very helpful. There was even a personalized welcome note waiting in our room.

The manager didn't speak with me until the following day, and even then seemed reluctant to offer a refund despite the problems and inconvenience. During my stay, the hotel changed my reserved room without asking, assigned it to someone else, then tried to describe the change as an “upgrade.” The replacement was significantly worse, with no proper heating and no windows, only skylights. I'm extremely dissatisfied with the service. The experience fell far below expectations.
