Regina Montmartre Hotel

The room temperature can't be set to whatever you want, and the room wasn't clean since we found someone else's item under the bed. The shower's hot water kept coming and going. At check-in, the receptionist said we had to pay a fee of thirty-something euros but gave no receipt. At checkout, a different receptionist asked whether we'd paid the 50 euro tax. Something doesn't add up.

Our confirmed booking was for a room with two single beds, but at check-in we were told it wasn't “available.” They offered us a tiny room with one double bed instead. It had a dirty, old carpet with stains, bubbled paint on the walls from leaks, and the stairwell walls had the same bubbled paint. Looking out the window meant seeing a pit full of pigeon droppings. This was the worst experience I've had in Paris. It felt like a tourist scam and reflects badly on the French capital.

The front desk staff were exceptionally helpful, and the room was cleaned daily. The bed sagged a little, but it didn't really affect our stay. The hotel is budget-friendly, with modest amenities, so don't expect five-star service. It's also very conveniently placed for exploring Paris, just five minutes from the subway. For what we paid in such a handy location, the stay was better than we'd expected.

The air conditioner wasn't working, and the triple room we booked for two adults and one 10y was tiny and badly damaged. When I told reception the room wasn't suitable, they were very “helpful”: they said they knew about the problems and offered either a double room or the option to leave the hotel at 8 pm. If I could give no stars, I would. I'd avoid this hotel if you want to enjoy your holiday. There are surely better options nearby.
