Hotel Korner Saint Marcel

Reception staff were wonderful, kind, and helpful, and guests can get complimentary coffee, tea, and water in the breakfast room. The neighborhood is calm and pleasant, without big tourist crowds or heavy traffic. It’s close to the Latin Quarter and its great bistros, about a 30-minute walk to Notre Dame, and only a four-minute walk to metro lines 5 and 7. The rooms are very small, though the beds are quite comfortable. They aren’t soundproof, and traffic from Boulevard Saint-Marcel makes mornings noisy. A decent 3-star hotel with excellent reception service.

The location makes it easy to get around the city, and the staff are friendly. I’d heard people say the rooms were small and figured Americans just didn’t understand European cities, but they really are very small. Still, they’re clean and comfortable, with everything you need. Breakfast was great.

Breakfast wasn’t worth the money, so I’d go to a nearby cafe. There was no apology or compensation for what happened, and I won’t stay here again. I’d paid for the room in advance on the hotel website and got confirmation within minutes. When I arrived, they couldn’t find the reservation. The receptionist’s confirmation contradicted both the booking confirmation from the hotel and the payment confirmation. After constant arguing and showing proof for 58 minutes, I finally got keys to the “last room,” supposedly under someone else’s name. I was traveling alone, which was fortunate because two people wouldn’t have fit. The room was incredibly small, unclean, and quite dirty. After fighting just to get a room, I didn’t have the energy to complain about it. The next day, the hotel started charging my account again. I blocked two transactions, but not the others. The receptionist said it was a mistake and the money would be refunded within three days, which did happen. After that conversation, the hotel tried to charge me two more times, but those attempts were blocked on my account. Arguing with clients and taking extra money from their accounts seems to be normal here.

The staff were incredibly nice, and I loved my stay at Korner Hotel Saint Marcel. My room had a balcony and a great view of the street. There was free tea, coffee, and juice, which was a lovely touch. The room had everything I needed, the linens and pillows were good, and both the water supply and air conditioner worked perfectly. I’ll definitely stay here again when I’m back in Paris. Thank you!
