Hôtel Saint-Roch

It's very handy for getting around and seeing the main sights, thanks to its great location. The rooms, though, are extremely small and feel cramped fast. I'd pay a little more for another hotel with more comfortable accommodation.

We only had two nights on our first trip to Paris, and everything felt close by. The supermarket, restaurants, and the Louvre were all within walking distance, which made this a perfect spot for first-time visitors. We were lucky to meet Eric at reception. He was friendly and so helpful, explained what we needed to know about safety, and even gave us a little souvenir on our last day. He made us feel welcome and made the trip better. We had a lovely time.

A very simple place, but that was fine for us since we were out all day and just wanted to come back and collapse on the bed. The room was clean, and I loved the exposed beams. The TV had English-language stations, and leaving the key at reception when going out was a nice way not to worry about losing it. Our double superior room was a good size for the price and location. The bathroom was a bit cramped but perfectly usable, and the air conditioning was much appreciated. There's a tiny elevator that goes nearly to the top. Some receptionists were a little too much, though the younger ones were polite and friendly.

The room was small, but it worked for me since I only showered and slept there. I could hear the traffic outside, and at times the walls seemed thin enough that I heard someone coughing in the next room. The building is dated, but the price makes it fair. My phone and TV didn't work, though it didn't bother me since I wasn't in Paris to watch TV or talk on the phone. The hotel has lots of charm and sits in a great spot, within walking distance of the Louvre and many cafés, and just minutes from the luxury stores. Eric and the rest of the staff were extremely helpful, and they speak English, which made my stay much easier. I do recommend staying here for the location.
