The reception team were consistently great. Thanks especially to Samuel, who checked us in and was friendly and helpful. We’d paid for early check-in, but there was a problem when we arrived; he did his best to sort it out. Housekeeping was a very different story during our seven-night stay. One day we left at 7:30 a.m. with the “please service my room” sign up, then got back at 5:30 p.m. to find the rooms hadn’t been cleaned. Housekeeping didn’t finish servicing rooms until 6 p.m. On each of the next two days, our towels were taken and not replaced, so we had to ask reception for more.

The rooms were quiet enough for a good night’s sleep, even with the hotel’s location, and there are plenty of good restaurants and shops close by. It’s well placed for Gare Du Nord and Gard Du Est, making it convenient to get back from central Paris or elsewhere. Staff were lovely, polite and professional, and breakfast was really good. We had a great stay.

The staff were lovely and very helpful, and the lobby is pleasant, though tiny. The location is handy for Gare de l’est and gare du nord, with trains from both taking you around, but the immediate area isn’t especially nice or interesting. I didn’t feel particularly safe in the building. There’s no security at the entrance, and anyone can get to the stairs and lift; only the room doors use card access. My room was extremely small, with just one place to open a suitcase, and the shower was so cramped that a taller or larger person might not be comfortable using it. The AC/heating unit was essential in November. At one point the room lock stopped working and could be opened without a card. Staff tried to fix it straight away, but it took over 30 minutes, and I had to stay nearby to watch my things in case it couldn’t be fixed. Convenient location and lovely staff, but I don’t think I’d stay again.

The breakfast was a letdown, below the ibis standard I’ve had at other hotels in European cities. The room was clean and comfortable, and being right by Gare de l’Est made getting around very easy. Handy for the location, but breakfast needs work.

I didn’t feel safe here and wouldn’t stay again. There was no key card access on the main doors leading to the rooms, so anyone could follow you up to your floor. The TV didn’t work, and my window wouldn’t lock properly. The staff were lovely.
