ibis Paris La Villette Cité des Sciences 19ème

The room was tiny and outdated, with a bathroom my 6,5 partner could barely have fit in. I couldn’t really move around, and the lift looked so worrying I wasn’t sure I’d make it back out of Paris. The dim hallways felt like a horror film. The walls were paper thin, so I could hear noise from all over the hotel, and my room was freezing. The staff were rude, though I’m not sure why. Outside my window there were lots of tents and homeless people, and fires were being started. At checkout, the receptionist kept insisting breakfast was included even after we said no about four times. I’m not sure if there was a language barrier, but I’m positive he knew what he was doing because he added the breakfast charge to our bill. This hotel made my Paris experience shockingly disappointing. I won’t be coming back to Paris.

We booked four nights but left after one. The carpets were dirty, the curtains were moldy and full of holes, a plug socket was hanging off the wall, and I didn’t feel brave enough to use the shower. There was rubbish outside and music played until 5:30 a.m. There’s no kettle in the room either. The area felt very unsafe. When I asked the receptionist to book us an airport taxi and explained we were going home because the hotel was so disgusting, he laughed. It was a nasty, scary experience.

Staff were quite unhelpful, and the room was so uncomfortable and cramped that it felt impossible to move around. The closet was tiny, with only four hangers for my partner and me, and barely any room for our things. It was really claustrophobic.

The bed was comfy and the hotel is close to the metro, but there was no vegan food. When I asked, the staff didn’t seem to know what vegan meant and told me to just not chew the meat. The curtains had lots of holes. After midnight there was nothing available, not even snacks, and there’s no kettle in the rooms. The TV had nothing in English. I won’t stay again.
