ibis Styles Paris Bercy

The bed was really big and comfortable, and I liked the fresh orange juice at breakfast. The location is great, with the metro right across the street, and the staff were friendly. The room was what I expected from other Ibis styles hotels, and I had a great stay overall. There was mold around the windowsill, though, and the bathroom vent either wasn’t working or needed cleaning. There was no airflow in there.

The location was the best part for me, right by the M14 and M6 metro routes. Ibis is usually reliable, and this stay was very good. The rooms are on the small side, as expected, and the Starbucks coffee machine makes good coffee. Breakfast was decent, though as Indian vegetarians we didn’t find many options. No complaint, really.

We arrived in the early hours from the bus station in Bercy and were pleasantly surprised after reading some reviews. The staff were very friendly and helpful, and the service was superb. The place was clean and well connected to the metro. Gare de Lyon is a ten-minute walk away, about a mile with suitcases. It’s close to the music stadium, where Lady Gaga was performing, and the Seine. There are grocery stores within a block, plus lots of cafés and restaurants across the street.

At $175 a night, I expected more comfort and convenience than this very basic economy room offered. There’s a corner bench and a rolling stand, but no proper desk or chair for working. No kettle or drinks are provided either, though there is a coffee vending machine in the lobby. Two weak lamps barely light the small room, and there’s just one shared, dirty microwave downstairs. Without a shower curtain, water gets everywhere. The place felt more like a hostel than a hotel, and I wouldn’t recommend it, even on a budget.
