La Tremoille Paris

I’ve stayed in a lot of high-end hotels, and I’d call this one a boutique hotel. The reception staff made it feel truly luxurious, though. They were lovely, helpful, and polite, and I fell in love with them, especially the lady at the front office. I wish I remembered her name. She said she was around 70, though I have my doubts. She was beautiful, and her soul and smile felt like those of an 18-year-old. The welcome was warm, and the hotel is close to Paris landmarks. Most of all, the superior room had a bidet spray, and the room gave me the feeling of being in Paris.

The spacious rooms deserve a mention, and the staff were super polite and professional. My colleagues and I stayed a few nights for a business trip, and whatever I asked for arrived promptly. It’s not a five-star luxury resort, but the management and team gave us one of the best service experiences I’ve had, a real five-star stay. Thanks for the great service. We’ll definitely be back :)

Do not book this hotel if you're a person of color. There were strong racist undertones, and it was the worst hotel experience I’ve ever had. When we arrived, we were ignored during check-in and got no warm welcome once staff acknowledged us. There were three bellmen and we had four suitcases, but nobody offered help, while they were assisting a white gentleman with his luggage. That seemed odd for a hotel claiming to be five-star. Our room was very warm. We switched on the AC and went to dinner, but it was still uncomfortably hot when we returned. At the front desk, the agent said he knew the AC wasn’t working and that every room would be without it for another week. About an hour later, I went back because the room was unbearable to sleep in. I asked if he was absolutely sure all the rooms were affected, and he confidently repeated that the AC would be out for a week. I told him our booking specifically included a room with AC, and that if the hotel couldn’t provide it, we’d check out first thing in the morning. He said I could leave if I wanted, then rudely handed me a business card and told me to email the hotel if I wanted a refund. I went back to the room, emailed them about the problem, said we’d be leaving three days early, and booked another hotel for the rest of our stay. The next morning, a manager greeted me at checkout and said she’d received my email. She told me the hotel did have working AC, the night agent had given me wrong information, and they knew our room had a non-functioning unit. She apologized and offered to move us. I explained we’d already paid for another hotel because of the lack of AC and asked for a refund for the three remaining nights. She kept offering another room, but I repeated that we were leaving. She said she was only the weekend manager and couldn’t approve a refund, but would raise it with her direct manager on Monday. I never heard from her, so I followed up by email. The reply said her manager had not approved the refund.

The location was great and very convenient, but I was disappointed by my experience. They added a minibar charge even though I didn’t use it, and I didn’t get all of my security deposit back.
