The price was decent, and the location is very good: the street has bars and restaurants, the metro is nearby, and so are the classic Paris sights. The room and bathroom were clean enough. Noise was a major problem. My room was on the second floor, right above the bar speaker, so the music was loud and the floor shook. The walls are thin, so I could hear the next room, upstairs, and street noise too. It was also a bit hard to find the way in. The entrance is tucked between the outdoor bar tables, so you have to pass the customers to get there. Inside, there’s a long hallway with room signs on the wall that you need to watch for. After getting the key, I had to climb a steep old staircase to reach one or two doors, then the room.

In reply to the hotel’s response to my earlier review: this is a lie. We reported it that same morning, right away, and were told they’d investigate. After that we heard nothing, and we have proof. I contacted you again later and even sent a doctor’s certificate, but got no reply. Booking also contacted you several times and submitted a refund request for the overnight stay, which you refused. I’ve never had service this poor. You couldn’t even apologize, say it was unfortunate, or respond to your customer. It’s unbelievable you’d answer a review like this. I truly have no words.

The place didn’t look like the listing. The windows faced a wall, the room was very small with no photos on the website to show its size, and there was no TV or anything else to entertain you. They asked for an extra €10 for the keys, calling it “city tax” even though I’d already paid the tax online. The windows were broken, and there was a smell of smoke in our room too. The person showing us around was in a hurry and didn’t properly explain that you need a code to open the doors. Our keys wouldn’t open the downstairs doors. At 1 a.m., freezing, with no receptionist and nobody answering calls or messages, we had to bang on the door for 20 minutes until another traveler let us in. Sorry to them. It was ridiculous and astonishing that they’d charge €200 for two nights. Please stay somewhere else!

The room was clean enough, had good water pressure and lots of storage, and felt more like our own little Airbnb apartment than a hotel. For the price, it was good. The bed was quite hard, but the rest made up for it. The location is amazing at this price, and the staff (owner?) was great. The staircase is rough when it’s hot outside, but, well, it’s Paris. We really liked our stay and will be back next time.

I left a night early because the stay was that bad. The location is great and you can walk to a lot of nearby places, but that’s where the good ends. It’s more like an expensive hostel, with too many problems to list properly. There’s no housekeeping, the shower flooded and clogged and had a broken head, the furniture was cheap and uncomfortable, and a window looked into the stairwell with no natural light. The Wi-Fi was terrible, and I later realized the tourist tax I paid was higher than it should have been. It doesn’t provide the amenities of a standard hotel. I’d avoid it unless you know what you’re getting into, and don’t be fooled by the five-star reviews.
