Belambra Clubs & Hotels - Hotel Le Magendie

We’ve stayed here three times now, and already know where we’ll stay for visit number four. The location is hard to beat, right by Metro Line 6, so getting to the main sights takes few transfers. It’s good value, and the rooms are old fashioned and small, but clean, with comfortable beds. The lobby and kitchen area have recently been redone and look stylish. Breakfast is more than enough, with fresh baguettes and tasty croissants every morning. The reception team made us feel welcome, especially Emanuella, who was so warm and helpful. We’ll definitely be back.

Both elevators were out, so we had to carry our bags up to the fourth floor using the fire exit. The toilets were also badly unhygienic: they wouldn’t flush and clogged several times. During our four-day stay, we had to change rooms three times because of the toilets. The front desk wasn’t helpful, and you can get a better hotel for this price. That 3.8 rating seems wrong.

I stayed here twice, in 2018 and 2019, while visiting Paris. The room was very clean, and the breakfast included in the price was excellent for what we paid. The hotel is well placed near the Metro and a bus station, including a bus that goes straight to Orly airport. The Catacombs were nearby too. At weekends there was a street bazaar with lots of vintage things and nice clothes at fair prices.

The bathroom was in poor shape, as the photos show, and the bedroom was tiny. The receptionist was rude. For the same money, I think you can find a better hotel. The ranking seems artificial to me, and this place definitely doesn’t deserve its current 3.8.
