Le Nouvel Hôtel du Théâtre

The room and service were both bad. The mattress was old and sagged at the sides, the pillows were poor, and the room felt very old. They provided ordinary hard soap and one tiny bottle of shampoo and body gel, enough for one person. There was only one socket by the bed for charging a phone, and it also powered the refrigerator or portable air conditioner. After we checked in and paid, our flight was cancelled. We wanted to stay one night and asked for a partial refund, but they refused and told us to contact booking. The receptionist wouldn't contact the manager or help in general. We emailed booking and the hotel separately because the receptionist said the manager would reply by email. He did respond to say we'd hear back within 24 hours, but we still never got a response. We checked out the next day at 16:00 and asked him to call the manager about a refund. He said we couldn't get one because checkout is until 12:00. Bad room, bad utilities, bad service.

It's a good option if you just need somewhere to catch an early train, since the hotel is right opposite the train station. The room was small but neat and had air-conditioning. There isn't a lift, and the staircase is narrow, so getting up to floors 3 and 4 can be difficult. The old guy at reception was kind of rude and not at all nice.

The room was functional, with a good bathroom and a good TV, though everything on it was in French. The fridge seemed to be switched on only when a guest arrived, so it stank. Otherwise, it's okay for the price, with good value for money and not far from the centre of Paris. Street parking is free after 8pm on Saturday.

A simple room that's handy for a one-night stay if you're catching an early train. The hotel is very close to the rail station.
