Le Petit Madeleine Hôtel

The design and cleanliness were superb, and it had the feel of a classic little Parisian treasure-box hotel, like the ones in movies 😊. We had a very nice stay, and everyone at the front desk was super nice and helpful. We really felt welcome. Thanks for everything, and greetings to our Vizsla friend from Hungary! 😊

The staff were charming, and the pretty bedroom was superbly comfortable. The location is perfect, quiet enough while still being close to everything. We booked Petit Madeleine last minute at the end of our time in Epernay and were very pleasantly surprised. It’s a fabulous little hotel that punches above its three-star rating. Bravo 👏, we’ll be back.

The owner wasn’t very nice, and neither was the rest of the staff. The place looks like a motel, and I couldn’t even find it because it looks nothing like the website. They treat you like a child, requiring you to leave your room key with reception every single time you go out. Very bizarre. The location is good, but the owner told me she doesn’t care for Americans and kept using derogatory phrases like, “well you know how you Americans are.” She also tried to rush me out of my room before checkout. I left regretting that I’d stayed. I don’t recommend it at all. Stay somewhere you’re welcome and treated with respect, wherever you live.

The location is what kept this at two stars. The room was clean, though one night the drains smelled. Inside, I felt boxed in: the room was tiny, every surface had pictures on it, and the little lift made me claustrophobic too. They also made me feel watched, almost like I was in a hostel. I couldn't bring a friend up to my room, even just for an hour, and not overnight. That felt petty and rude.
