Les Ateliers de Montmartre

I live in the USA and was so happy to spend my holidays in France at this hotel. Montmartre is beautiful and full of life, with restaurants, cafes, art galleries, and especially lovely architecture. I booked the Dali room, which was spacious, beautifully decorated, and had a real local style. The owners welcomed me warmly and gave me the information I needed.

We booked a top-floor room and were so glad we did. Les Ateliers has narrow stairs up to the third floor, but that's manageable for a healthy person, and the view makes it worth it. The room was lovely, the atmosphere and service were wonderful, and you can hardly get closer to Sacré-Coeur in the heart of Monte Martre. Amazing place and location. I'd love to come back. Thanks for an unforgettable stay 🙏

Our room door had been locked from outside, and my partner couldn't get into the building because the keypad had failed. We were given only one key, so I was trapped in the room on the third floor with no way to unlock the door from inside or get downstairs to let him in. We spent hours stuck on opposite sides of the hotel. Nobody was on site to help, and when someone finally arrived, they had to kick the door in. It seemed like this had happened before. I'd warn anyone, especially women traveling alone, that you could end up locked outside with no one there to assist, which would be especially worrying at night. The owner was incredibly rude when we raised it, and we had to keep persuading him to send help. He yelled at me over the phone when I tried to toss the keys through a window. It felt like our only option, since he had stopped answering our calls and wasn't telling us when help would arrive. The room also looked nothing like the photos. It was old, dirty, and much smaller than it appeared, with a cemetery right outside the window. Trees blocked the Sacré-Coeur view shown in the photos. I hate leaving a negative review, but I think other travelers need to know about the safety issue. I wouldn't recommend this place, however cute it may look.
