Maison Eugenie

The bathroom is small, though I understand that's common in many European hotels. I'd suggest more attention to keeping the rooms clean. Otherwise, Maison Eugenie was good value for money. The hotel has a distinct, charming feel, and its attached bar was a highlight. It serves breakfast as well as lunch and dinner, with tasty Spanish tapas at good prices. Staff at both the hotel and bar were friendly and attentive. The location near Metro Line 14 and a train station made it easy to get around France.

We spent a week here in November on my first trip to Paris. Our flights were delayed and we arrived much later than planned, but the concierge was lovely and helped us find a great local place to eat. The rooms may be a little dated, though they still have a chic charm. The neighborhood feels less touristy than others, so it felt like seeing “the real Paris.” Two metro stations are very close, and the nearest has a direct line to Versailles, which we made full use of. Our room was cleaned daily, and all the staff were helpful and kind. I'd stay here again.

We got a little balcony in our room, and the subway was close by for getting wherever we needed to go. It was a great deal, and the hotel was clean, friendly, and very cute. Loved our 2-night stay while visiting with my wife.

The main drawback was the noise. Traffic was loud, and people at two restaurants across the way yelled, shouted, and sang (!) until 1-2 in the morning. The fridge was very old and barely worked. The hotel's restaurant was closed, a strange idea in summer, and breakfast cost a ridiculous 19 Euros plus tax, so we didn't try it. There are plenty of places nearby to get food for just a few Euros. The room was comfortable and very clean, maybe a little too small, though that's common in Europe. The bathroom was large, surprisingly everything worked, and there were enough plugs of good quality. The location is great, across from a metro station with a direct line downtown, and near a railway that gets you to Versailles. There are lots of small supermarkets, restaurants, cafes, and bulangeries around. Staff were very friendly. I had a great stay overall, since I had a supply of sleeping pills.
