Mercure Paris La Sorbonne Saint Germain des Pres Hotel

The room was stylish, the bed was so comfortable, and I slept like a dream. The cleaning was top-notch too. When I arrived before check-in, the staff went out of their way to see if I could get in early and even gave me snacks and coffee. Everyone was warm and friendly, and breakfast was heavenly, especially the coffee crème. I loved every moment and can't wait to come back to Paris just to stay here again!

I spent days confused by all the places to stay in Paris, then picked a “safe” hotel chain and was glad I wasn't disappointed. The location is excellent, in a fairly quiet alley in the Latin Quarters, within a 10-12 minute walk or less of Notre Dame, Pantheon, and the Conciergerie. Saint Michel and Odeon stations are close, and there are several cafés and pizzerias within a five-minute walk, although the hotel has no lunch or dinner restaurant. The staff were courteous and helpful. I especially liked the couple serving breakfast, with their friendly manner, great coffee, and freshly made food. The breakfast choice was excellent and the room was cosy and homely. It is small, as other reviews say, but during our four days we never had to wait for a table. Our double room wasn't large, but that's Paris; it had the amenities we needed, and I promptly got an iron and board when I asked. The bathroom was very spacious, which I liked best about the room. There was an odd smell in it that I mentioned at reception, though it wasn't a deal breaker. We paid close to £1200 for four nights with breakfast, more than some hotels and BnBs I'd seen, but the location and breakfast quality made it worthwhile. The windows only looked onto surrounding buildings, in case you're wondering. I'd stay here again.

For families, the two connecting rooms are a great setup, with a small private hallway between them. This is a lovely four-star boutique hotel in a safe, pleasant part of Paris, right across from the Sorbonne University. The rooms were clean and came with robes, slippers, water, coffee, tea, and toiletries. The minibar was empty, handy if you want to put your own things in it. There's a bar downstairs, and breakfast was simple but satisfying, quite good for Paris. One tip if you've read this far: book your airport taxi ahead and wait downstairs, since parking in front of the hotel is limited. Highly recommend.

The staff were great and always tried their best, and the bed was very comfortable. It was also quiet at night. The location was fantastic, within easy walking distance of most historic landmarks. I had a Privilege room, but it was tiny, with barely enough space to move around the bed, and the bathroom was open to the room, which I passionately hate. The furniture and details like laminated menus gave a cheap impression. Breakfast was the worst part: it was in a small basement room that couldn't fit all the guests, and I saw people carrying their breakfast upstairs to their rooms.
