The room was great all around, from the size and little bath to the water pressure. My only small quibble is that the pillows could be more comfortable. Breakfast was a real highlight for me, especially since it matters a lot to me when I’m in France. There was a wonderful selection, including avocados, salmon, freshly pressed juices, pastries, and Babka (!).

Our first impression was poor: at check-in, Tina said we had paid for one room rather than two, apparently without checking our booking properly. Once she realized the error, she didn’t apologize and just said the system was confusing. On the second day, our room keys stopped working, and this happened every night, so we had to keep going to reception to reactivate them. Even after we’d patiently waited in line, Tina let a French guest go ahead and served him first. She gave no apology or explanation. It felt unfair and disrespectful, and came across as discriminatory. Tina’s repeated lack of courtesy and accountability left us feeling unwelcome. For a hotel of this level, the front desk service was unacceptable and didn’t meet even basic hospitality standards. Management should take this seriously and make sure guests are treated with respect and fairness.

The hotel was passable, though nothing special, and the bathroom smelled bad and could have used a proper clean. Samia and Florence were especially helpful. The gentleman on evening reception, whose name I’m sorry I’ve forgotten, changed our rooms so we got the right beds. Tina at morning reception helped to a point. One room was for passengers whose flight had been cancelled, and we tried to cancel it with her but couldn’t. It wasn’t entirely her fault, but I felt she could have helped move the booking to the following day, which I suggested. She declined.

The safety situation also concerned me: anyone could get past reception and take the elevator up. When we arrived early in the morning, I was told to come back at 15:00 PM. I returned at 17:00 PM, but the room still wasn’t ready and apparently might still need cleaning. Once we got a key and went up, it wasn’t set up as booked, and preparing it took nearly an hour. We had to separate the beds ourselves to match the reservation. One front desk employee was helpful, bringing coffee and updates, but the rest made my travel companion and me feel like we were a nuisance. They talked loudly about whose mistake it was without explaining or offering a solution. The soaps also all needed refilling. After I asked, they were left on a table instead of being replaced in the bathroom. The AC didn’t work despite repeated attempts, so I had to open the terrace window for air. I’d been looking forward to the Mecure Paris Alesia, but the poor preparation and hospitality made the stay far from satisfactory. A cup of coffee can’t make up for all that, and I wouldn’t recommend it. I emailed afterward and never got a reply or acknowledgment.

The one good part was the staff, who were kind, professional, and tried to help. But the room was far below standard. It was dusty and unclean, as the photos show, with damp air and obvious humidity and mold on the walls. I even had an allergic reaction during my stay, which made the experience uncomfortable. As a Gold member, I was really disappointed to be given such a poorly maintained room.
