Mercure Paris Opéra Faubourg Montmartre

I spent a week here and found the hotel quiet, clean, and well organized, in a safe area. The receptionist always greeted me with a smile. I also arrived an hour before check-in and was allowed to get into my room early.

Camille, Benjamin, and Deborah were kind and pleasant, and Camille eventually got me the vanity kit I needed. The location is amazing. I visit Paris every year around Christmas and New Year’s Year, so I know a good location, and as a returning Mercure guest I’m used to full four-star Mercure service. I hadn't realized there could be such big differences at this hotel. The superior room I booked had no coffee machine or bathroom items like a vanity kit, body lotion, or shower cap. There was a water refill option, though. My first night, I asked Radhia for a vanity kit because I hadn't brought one. She told me to ask another hotel next door and said they had none. The next day Camille arranged one. On the second evening I asked Radhia again, just to check, and she again said they didn't have any. I found her mean, unprofessional, unhelpful, and even a liar. The treatment was shocking and unpleasant. You want to feel safe and welcome in a hotel, especially when you're paying a lot to stay there.

The hotel was good, the rooms were fine, and breakfast was good too. You can open the windows for fresh air, and the street is quiet, so there wasn't noise. I'm tall, though, and the bed was too short for me. The shower head came up only halfway to my face.

The staff were lovely, but with the whole reception area being renovated it already felt cramped, and the construction noise made it worse. I wish they'd told us before our stay, because I would have changed hotels.
