Mercure Paris Opéra Garnier

The staff were friendly and professional, though the door closer needs fixing so the doors don't slam. The hotel itself is calm and cozy, and very good. Breakfast can get hectic because the restaurant is small, and at busy times you may not be able to get a seat. I'd recommend it overall.

We picked Mercure Paris Opéra Garnier for its location on our short Paris visit. Printemps and Galeries Lafayette are practically next door, and the rooms, while small, were functional. The service was attentive, but the rest felt no-frills and more like a business hotel than the usual Mercure experience. The furniture and finishes didn't feel premium, and without the better service, the place could almost pass for an Ibis.

The street-facing room stayed remarkably quiet thanks to excellent soundproofing, and the staff were genuinely kind and friendly. The location is excellent, with the metro and a major station nearby, shops like Printemps and Galeries Lafayette within easy walking distance, and lots of restaurants and cafés right in front. I stayed about five days at Mercure Paris Opéra. My room felt small even after an upgrade, and there was an unpleasant damp-carpet smell. One day I came back to find my folded laundry had apparently been disturbed during housekeeping and not put back neatly. For a quick stay or business trip, the location, staff, and quiet room are good reasons to choose it. For a family, the space may be an issue unless you book a larger room.

I've stayed here four times already, and I'm hooked. It's one of the best-value hotels in Paris, with good-sized rooms, friendly staff, an excellent location, and great transport links. Gare du Nord is just one stop away. Laura deserves a special mention. She's amazing and gives Raffles-level service at this Mercure.
