Hôtel Metropol

The place is clean, unpretentious, and seems well priced, with friendly service from the owner. One surprise on arrival was a charge of €10.43 per person, which included not just the €5 tourist tax but also an admin fee.

Hotel Métropol was where my great Paris experience began. The location and rooms were great, and the staff were amazing. Thanks for everything, and I can’t wait to come back. À bientôt!

We were on the sixth floor and had two little balconies, which was fun. The room was clean and a good size for Paris, and the front desk staff were welcoming. The elevator is small, but that’s Paris. My only personal downside was the very firm bed, though it suited my mom perfectly. The location worked well for travel from La Gare de l’est or nord. I booked at the last minute and was nervous after reading some reviews, but the stay turned out perfectly fine. It’s not a five-star hotel, just what I expected.

The hotel is clean, friendly, and well priced. I was surprised at check-in to find a €5.53 per person tourism tax plus a €4.90 “Frais de gestion” admin fee. The hotel had mentioned it in an email, but I hadn’t read to the end, and the message arrived only after I’d made a non-refundable booking on hotels.com. I think that’s sharp practice. Running a hotel has plenty of costs, so why not charge extra for hot water or pillows too?
