We finally left a day early after too many problems. The apartment was in poor shape and didn’t match the description, with lots of broken things. The front door lock’s batteries needed recharging, so we had to deal with getting the door to open and lock. There was also a huge crack across the mirror behind the cooking area. When I raised it, the host assured me it was perfectly safe and offered about £28 as a goodwill gesture, enough for a bottle of champagne or a taxi. That was the last straw for me.
