Hotel Odyssey

A peaceful night's sleep, friendly staff, and a great location made this a rare find for me. The room had a great shower, comfortable bed, and excellent air-conditioning. Tanya, Paulo, and Joseline were so helpful and made the whole experience special. It's a stones throw from everything, and this will be my go-to hotel in Paris.

The staff were the best part of our stay, especially the guy working the night shift at reception. My partner got pretty sick from food poisoning on our first night, and he helped us a lot during the rest of our stay. The hotel is well designed and makes it easy to walk everywhere too.

The room was clean and convenient, the staff very kind, and the location amazing. The only reason I'm giving four stars is the elevator. It wasn't available after midnight, with an out of order sign, though it always worked fine in the morning. I think they may have shut it off because of the noise. My friend had a knee injury and had to climb to the third floor each night, basically using one leg. That's a big issue if guests aren't told at check-in or on the website that the elevator doesn't run 24:7. If we'd known ahead of time, we might have stayed somewhere more convenient.

The location near the Louvre Museum was the one good thing. We paid about $300 a night for a cramped, dated room with stains on the furniture and carpet, even though ours was the largest and most expensive room. The narrow halls added to a slightly seedy feeling, and the marketing photos gave a very different impression. The air conditioning was out throughout the hotel. Nobody told us at check-in; we had to discover it and complain. It was hot and muggy, and they offered a portable fan to rooms that asked. My husband saw a whole closet full of fans, so it seems this may happen often. They said the outage started that day and a technician couldn't come until the next day, but it was never fixed during our two miserable nights. We also watched other guests check in without being told. They refunded 20%, but I wish we'd asked for a full refund and stayed somewhere else. I later read a review from a year earlier describing the same excuse every day during a five-day stay. Given the price and the reviews that led us to choose this place, I'm honestly suspicious of the reviews now. I wouldn't recommend it.
