Pavillon de Montmartre

I don’t usually leave bad reviews, but this one deserved it. I prepaid for two rooms for two nights because I knew we’d arrive late. When I got there, they said I was a no-show, so they sold the room I’d paid for. I had to wait until 3 pm to get a room I’d booked the night before, and they wouldn’t refund me for the room. Nothing’s worse than driving all night only to find you don’t have the prepaid room. If you’re arriving late, don’t expect your room to be there. I wouldn’t have been mad if they’d given me a refund.

The location was second to none, and the service was exceptional. The front desk staff helped me sort out a package that was having trouble arriving, and they offered great coffee and tea for free. The room was great, though some mosquitoes got in. It wasn’t too bad, but that could be improved.

The room and bathroom were unbelievably small, and I can’t stress that enough. We barely slept because of the dirt and lack of space. I checked out sick, dizzy, and with a migraine. We were two people in a double room for six nights. The location was perfect, the decor was nice, and the staff were kind. That’s the end of the good things. The room was shockingly dirty and overpriced, with no air conditioning, safe, bedside table, clothes closet, or kettle. There were no amenities, the bathroom had no ventilation and had mold, and service was terrible. They never cleaned our room and changed our towels only once. Every morning I put out the “please clean my room” sign, but it felt like I was putting out a do-not-disturb sign. We used the same towels the whole time. When I asked reception for fresh ones, I was told, “I’ll try to send them your way but I’m not even sure we have enough towels.” The hotel didn’t have enough towels for everyone, even though it was pretty empty while we were there. The hairdryer’s protective back was broken, so the fan ripped a whole chunk of my hair out. I asked for it to be replaced, but it never was. They gave us two plastic bathroom cups that were disgustingly dirty. Nobody cleaned the room or replenished basic supplies, so we ran out of extremely thin toilet paper on the second day. I went to the lobby bathroom every day to get another roll. With no bedside table, we had to leave our water and phones on the floor. On the first night my phone rolled under the bed, so I had to look underneath. We checked the whole room and the amount of dust and dirt was horrifying. There’s no closet, so good luck with your suitcase, bags, and belongings if you’re staying longer than a night or two. The walls are paper-thin. On the second morning we woke to knocking at our door. I went out and saw someone trying to wake up a friend next door. It sounded like they were knocking on our door, and we clearly heard their whole conversation afterward. We could hear the lift from the end of the corridor and everything other guests did and said. If you’re still thinking of staying here, start praying the hotel is empty. I have no idea how this place has reviews above one star. Any four- or five-star reviews must be bots. Please choose somewhere else if you haven’t paid yet!

The staff were lovely and the location was great. The rooms look smart and modern when you come in, but I wouldn’t stay again. My first room had flies in both the bathroom and bedroom, so they moved me the next day. The second had cracked floors and a cracked shower tray. All night I could hear drains dripping and flushing through the shower plug, so I shut the bathroom door. Each morning, opening it brought a sewage smell. Since the room was on the ground floor, the walls were thin and the corridor doors were left open. Other guests moving about and having breakfast woke me up in the morning.
