Relais du Silence Hôtel des Tuileries

The rooms are small, though I guess that's average for Paris, but they were nice, tidy, and pleasant overall. The hotel is within walking distance of the Louvre, Saint Michael, ópera, and the underground. The breakfast could be better. There's also a real French restaurant beside the hotel that's worth a try.

The front desk staff were very helpful, and the room had plenty of space for two people and carry-on luggage, though it wasn't large. The location is nice, just 2 blocks from the metro stop. Wifi was a bit slow, with 2 of 3 bars on the 4th floor, though it was OK in the lobby. The bathtub had no shower head, only a handheld sprayer, and there was no shower curtain, so water got all over the bathroom floor.

The rooms were small and poorly decorated, and the food was overpriced and not that good. The hotel staff told us breakfast was complimentary, but at checkout they said it would cost 32e a person per day. We wouldn't have eaten there if we'd known. They lied to us. We'll never return.

This is a lovely central hotel in an ideal location. I've stayed there twice and recommended it to family and friends traveling from New Zealand. This time, though, we had an issue. We'd prepaid for the accommodation before our stay, but when we left, 2 other payments had been taken from our credit card. I called the hotel and spoke to Marie, then emailed the information while still in France and got no reply. After returning to New Zealand, I emailed the details through the website and still got no reply. Our bank has now sorted it out and issued the refund, over $1,300.00, which is not a small amount. Marie, if you read this, you need to acknowledge our disappointment. We don't trust the hotel and won't recommend it again.
