L'Hotel Royal Saint Germain

The location was the only good thing. We wouldn't recommend this place or stay here again. Our stay was severely disappointing, and we finally checked out and got out of there. At check-in, another guest told us the elevator was broken. The woman checking us in hadn't mentioned it, even though she put us on the 6th floor. We had to haul luggage up a tiny spiral staircase and make that climb repeatedly. The lights were meant to come on automatically, but from the third floor it was pitch black and took a while for them to turn on. A few guests nearly fell on the stairs. The lift was still broken all four days, even though we were told it would be fixed, and no one ever came. We had to walk six flights every time. Our sheets were filthy, stained, and covered in hairs and marks. The bathroom had a champagne glass with rosé drops and lipstick marks that weren't ours. We asked the desk to clean up and change the sheets while we went to dinner. When we got back, only the glass was gone. The man at the desk gave us fresh sheets, and we had to change the bed ourselves. We raised the issue again the next day and showed photos to the front desk woman; she said she'd passed them to the manager. We returned again and it still wasn't resolved. Only on the second-to-last day did they offer 10% off our stay and a bottle of champagne for the final day. We were leaving at 6am, though, and the dinner started at 7am, so thanks a lot. I also learned other guests had been offered free breakfast because the elevator was broken, which we hadn't been offered. We were given breakfast one morning because it was our honeymoon. How romantic, changing the filthy sheets on our hotel bed ourselves on our honeymoon. At checkout, I had to remind them to apply the 10% refund to my card, and the front desk woman then CHARGED my card instead. That cost me extra in conversion fees and another transaction, and wasted more of our time. I eventually got the 10% back.

The staff were kind, welcoming, and explained everything clearly. The rooms had what we needed, though they were a bit smaller than usual, and you'll be out exploring the city anyway. It's a boutique hotel, so the narrow stairs and little elevator are part of its charm.

The location is the cherry on top. Reception were so helpful and friendly at check-in, and even pointed us to a fantastic place for lunch. Ten out of ten, would recommend!

From the moment I arrived, the hotel surpassed what I expected. Everyone was friendly and professional, always ready to help with a genuine smile. My room was spotless, modern, and really comfortable, with every detail thoughtfully arranged.
