My partner and I took a break here for sandwiches on our way to the Victor Hugo house museum. We sat in the grass and admired the beautiful townhouses lining Place des Vosges. It's a lovely open spot for coffee or lunch, or just to enjoy a warmer spring day on a bench.
I had breakfast at carette, then wandered all around the square. I came across authentic shops selling leather goods and perfumes, along with lots of art exhibitions, and visited the Maison Victor Hugo museum. I could live here forever. ☺️ Place des Vosges is one of Paris's prettiest and most elegant squares. The symmetrical red-brick buildings and covered arcades surround a peaceful green garden, and the whole place feels calm and full of history. A lovely spot to walk, sit, relax, and soak up that timeless Parisian atmosphere.
We stopped by Places desVosges on a cold January day. It was brief, but the mood was calm and positive, with people strolling through the park at an easy pace. A pleasant visit.
In autumn, the trees turn warm shades of amber and gold, making the park spellbinding. It's easy to understand how it has inspired dreamers, poets, and painters for centuries.
Paris's best-known and oldest square is surrounded by wonderful buildings. It can get quite crowded, though, so I'd suggest taking a breather in the lovely nearby garden at the Hôtel de Sully.
