The People Paris Belleville

The bar and restaurant downstairs made things convenient, and there was always something happening, from jazz nights and live music to DJs. It had a great atmosphere. I stayed in an eight-bed dorm and was lucky to have quiet, easygoing roommates, so resting was no problem. The beds and pillows were very comfortable, and the rooms were nice and well ventilated. There’s only one toilet per floor, but it never caused an issue. Belleville is well connected by metro and bus, with lots of good restaurants nearby. The staff were friendly despite being busy. I’d definitely recommend it for a good budget stay in Paris.

The beds were comfortable, but the rooms got uncomfortably hot. I found the hostel disappointing. The bar was nice, but there was no welcome drink or organized activity to help guests get to know each other, so the atmosphere felt lacking. The reception staff used the formal “you” (“vous”, “usted”) when speaking to me, which felt oddly distant. I was also bothered by the luggage storage fee of €2 per hour. I’d never seen that before.

The rooftop is beautiful and has a nice view of Montmartre. The room and bathrooms were clean and well kept, and the staff were really friendly. We met some nice people, too. The beds were a little uncomfortable, and the mattress protectors sometimes slipped off during the night.

I felt comfortable staying here on my own as a woman, and I’d happily come back. The rooms and shared facilities were very clean, there were evening live events, and the staff were friendly and spoke several languages. Getting around and finding food nearby was easy. There’s no kitchen, which was the one drawback, but the bar and cafe served good food and drinks.
