There’s no elevator or air conditioning, and one bedroom doesn’t have an outside window. The windows need repair because they don’t lock, and the unit’s front door lock also needs fixing. In the kitchen there were no instructions for using the washer and dryer, and the dishwasher didn’t clean the dishes properly, so it may need a maintenance clean. Neither of the two showers had soap or shampoo, and there was only a limited amount of toilet paper. The location is good.

We found the apartment unacceptable and were refused a refund. It was Easter weekend, so finding two hotel rooms for the four of us was difficult, and the whole situation was very stressful and unpleasant. We’d paid in advance for four nights, expecting the advertised luxurious three-bedroom place near the Grands Boulevards. Instead, the street was under construction, and we had to get into the building from behind a construction shed. The apartment was several flights up with no elevator. I’m 75, my wife is 70, and with our two grandchildren we weren’t going to haul five heavy suitcases upstairs. The agent said they had never advertised an elevator. I explained that with an ad calling it a “luxury apartment” near Grands Boulevards, I would expect one. I’ve been visiting Paris several times a year since I was a child.
